Pay for the holiday of March 25 (National Day)
The 25th of March belongs to the mandatory holidays, therefore, on this particular day the employment of employees and the operation of businesses, except those that operate legally, on Sundays are prohibited. Therefore, those employees who are paid a daily wage and are not employed are entitled to the usual daily wage. In addition, the employees who will work, during the aforementioned holiday, are entitled to receive - if they are paid by a daily wage - the usually paid daily wage with a 75% surcharge calculated on their legal hourly wage and - if they are paid a monthly salary - only a 75% surcharge calculated on their legal hourly wage. This additional pay in both cases will be calculated for all the hours worked.
In the current year (2023), March 25th falls on a Saturday. Therefore, businesses that operate a five-day work system, with a day of rest (day off) on Saturday, must pay daily wage earners one day's wages in addition to the 6 they normally receive. That is, they will receive 7 days' wages based on article 2 § 3 of L. 3755/57.
